The Teeling distillery, located in the heart of Dublin’s Liberties neighborhood, has resurrected the craft of distillation in the region. Four new Irish whiskey distilleries have opened in Dublin since the current whiskey revival began. When Walter Teeling opened a distillery in Marrowbone Lane in Dublin’s Liberties neighborhood in 1782, it was the first of its kind in the city. John Teeling, a few generations later, was the man behind the Cooley distillery’s establishment in County Louth. Master distiller Alex Chasko and brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling launched Dublin’s first new distillery in 125 years in 2015.
The whiskey manufactured in Dublin is aged in warehouses, but many of the Teeling brands now on the market were procured from another source.
Teelings Irish whiskey is a 46 percent abv Irish whiskey, blended and finished in ex-rum barrels with no chill filtration. There are several unique aspects to this whiskey, including the fact that it was aged in rum casks rather than bourbon or sherry barrels, which are more typical in the Irish whiskey industry. In Irish whiskey, Teeling is one of just a few tiny batches.
The bottle’s dark green glass resembles an antique Port bottle since it is so near too black. For a whisky that doesn’t have a lot of colours to conceal, Teeling’s Port-style bottle and Edwardian-style label are simply plain nice. Teeling isn’t trying to hide its hue. The hue of the whiskey in the glass is that characteristic straw yellow of Irish whiskey. Sweet, fruity, and little spicy, the scent is like an apple pie with the addition of rum. The aroma is enlivened with a hint of piney wood. Rum-like notes are present in the syrupy, mild taste. Despite its sweetness, this is a well-balanced whiskey that isn’t overpoweringly so. Eventually, the peppery undertone gives way to a pleasant, warm glow.
Teeling Wonders || Wood Single Pot Still Chinkapin Oak
Teeling’s Wonders of Wood Single Pot Still was crowned the “World’s Best Single Pot Still” at the World Whiskey Awards 2022. The finest virgin American Chinkapin Oak was utilized in this edition of a new limited series of Dublin distilled whiskey aged in unique oak barrels.
Teeling Renaissance 18 YO Single Malt
This 18-year-old Single Malt has been aged in bourbon and calvados barrels, making it the last installment of the Renaissance Series. Only 9,000 bottles were made, and they were all bottled at a 46 percent ABV.
Teeling 32 YO Single Malt
A 32-year-old single malt from Teeling’s Vintage Reserve Collection is now available to buy teelings Irish whiskey. It’s a delicious whiskey that’s been aged in the best rum barrels to bring out all the flavors of peach, vanilla, and cream on the tongue.
Teeling Black Pitts Peated
Fruity aromas from Sauternes barrels meld wonderfully with peaty back notes, while the triple distillation eliminates the medicinal quality prevalent in certain Scotch single malts. A peated Irish whiskey may be hard to come by, thus this bottle should be sought after by those who like the flavor of peat.
Teeling 30 YO
In addition to being distilled from a small number of carefully chosen casks, this Irish Single Malt was aged in ex-white Burgundy barrels before being released.
Teeling 24 YO
At the 2019 World Whiskies Awards, this exceptional single malt was named World’s Best Single Malt. Irish whiskey has won this coveted prize for the first time. Finished in Sauternes wine casks, this Irish Whiskey is definitely one-of-a-kind.
The same batch of whiskey was used to make both the 2016 and 2017 releases. After aging in oak casks for almost a decade, the barrels were combined and separated into two batches. One batch was made available in 2016 and another in 2017. It was the whole vatting’s tasting stock that was put into the prizes, not just a batch from a certain year. Whiskey bottled between 2016 and 2017 is 24 years old. Both of these years’ whiskeys are identical.
